We are very happy with our beautiful neighborhoods, our great standing in the school systems, our family atmosphere, our community pride, our cute locally owned stores, heck we even adore the TJ Maxx here! I too wish we had a Target closer too instead of the K-Mart that is there, it's a dump.īut we have a fairly new Target just a few miles away. If you don't have the money or you don't want your children "exposed" to wealth, then DON'T MOVE HERE! We don't want you either. Lebanon, Cranberry, Wexford - they have all been made out to be these horrific places to raise kids because the people who happen to live there have money.
Plus the country outdoorsy area have afforded them the opportunity to enjoy both the rural and city parts that Pittsburgh offers.įox Chapel, Sewickley, USC, Mt. I've had kids go through the school system and they loved every minute of it. Yes, most of the kids at the high school have traveled to exotic places. Yes their first cars are sometimes BMW's, Mercedes, etc. That can happen anywhere! Yes, the kids at the high school wear very nice clothes. I don't think it's fair to say that just because someone has a lot of money, that they are mean spirited and spoiled rotten.
There is a new development going up where the homes start at 600K to well over one million. Much of what is being built out here now is at least 500K. It doesn't hurt that the taxes are cheaper. Lebanon have chosen to move to because they would like a newer house with more land. Peter's is an area where many people who have lived in Upper St. But it's not all wealthy, there are still some affordable houses to be had there. Yes, Peter's Township is filled with many, many, many wealthy families. Everybody is entitled to their opinion and this is mine. I have to defend Peter's Township though. I'm sorry you had a tough time in high school, that must have been very difficult. Not everyone is rich there, but it sure helps your children to fit in if you are. I think it's a bit ridiculous for parents to buy their teenager a new BMW and shows the mentality of a lot of the people who live in that community. The school provided a good education but at what cost? I recommend driving by the high school during the day while classes are in session and take a look at the amount of brand new and very expensive cars in the parking lot. I still find myself fighting to this day not to judge people based on the way I was taught growing up in Peters. I grew up being judgmental of people based on absurdities like how much money they spend on their clothes, cars, houses, etc. What is worse is that after a while I began to exhibit the same bullying behavior as the kids who picked on me. Suddenly I was thrust into an environment where kids picked on you mercilessly if you didn't buy your clothes at the best stores in the mall, didn't live in the "right" neighborhood, or if you were even a little bit different from them. I had gone to a school (Chartiers Valley) where it didn't matter where you bought your clothes or how big your house was. I was picked on so badly by other kids that I used to go home and cry after school every single day. I moved from Scott Twp to Peters Twp when I was 11. Anyone thinking about moving to Peters Twp and having my children attend that school district should think long and hard about it.
